India and South Africa lock horns with each other in the second one-day international at Boland Park on Friday. South Africa took the early lead after winning the first ODI by 31 runs on Wednesday.
South Africa won a good toss and opted to bat first on a slow surface. They didn’t get off to a great start, having lost the first three wickets for just 68 runs. Man in form, Janneman Malan got out early for just 6 off 10, thanks to a superb delivery from Jasprit Bumrah.
India lost the 1st ODI match due to the worst performance by their bowling unit even after having a good start. They leaked plenty of runs in the middle and last overs. Jasprit Bumrah was the most successful and highest wicket-taker from their side who picked two wickets in his four overs bowled out against 48 runs. Ravi Ashwin picked one wicket while no other bowler from their side could manage to pick any wicket.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shardul Thakur, and Yuzvendra Chahal failed to pick any wicket. The batting order of India performed well but they failed to chase the target of 297 runs and scored 265 runs in their 50 overs inning. Shikhar Dhawan was the highest run-scorer from their side who scored 79 runs with the help of 10 boundaries. Virat Kohli also performed well and scored 51 runs while Shardul Thakur remained not out after scoring 50 runs.
