To take their Web Run-Fee (NRR) above Karnataka and qualify for the semifinals, Mumbai had to limit Punjab to 150 or beneath. However, Punjab openers Shubman Gill (78, 38b, 7×four, five×6) and Abhishek Sharma (47, 29b, four×four, three×6), tore aside the Mumbai assault all the way through their 84-run partnership.
Gill and Gurkeerat Mann added 70 for the second one wicket as Punjab reached 150 via the 14th over. Quickly with the autumn of Gill’s wicket, Punjab misplaced momentum and completed 22 runs quick.
